Jobs Description

  • Establish, administer, review, and update specific EHS&S programs for compliance with local, state, and Department of Occupational Health and Safety in the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training (MoLTV) of Cambodia, Provisions on Management of Occupational Hygiene in Workplaces, and other regulations as necessary.
  • Manage applicable regulatory compliance records and maintain standard reporting and documentation procedures.
  • Provide initial and periodic safety and environmental training to employees as required and interface with both employees and site leadership on safety and environmental issues. Review new regulatory standards and make compliance recommendations.
  • Coordinate EHS&S efforts with Charles River Corporate EHS&S Department.
  • Serve as liaison with occupational healthcare provider, physicians, and specialty laboratories in accomplishing the requirements for the Occupational Health and Environmental Protection Programs, as required.
  • Inspect the facility for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as applicable. Recommend solutions to management that address deficiencies in EHS&S compliance. Submit work orders for facility corrective action on EHS&S concerns.
  • Recommend and implement changes to facility Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and/or Business Operating Procedures (BOPs) relating to the EHS&S Global Operating Framework (GOF). Implement safe work methods (hands-on / ground-up approach)
  • Manage the hazardous waste program including waste profiling, permitting, manifesting, and record keeping and reporting. Respond to onsite spills and cleanup in accordance with the site Emergency Response Plan.
  • Manage the Wastewater Discharge program with the applicable local, state and federal Water Resource Authority, submit reports, monitor chemicals and products discharged to drains to ensure compliance with Discharge permit as required.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Facilities, and Veterinary Services on issues of Biosafety, Biosecurity, and general environmental health, safety and sustainability management.
  • Conduct or coordinates industrial hygiene monitoring to ensure compliance with regulatory chemical exposure limits and maintains documentation of conducted monitoring.
  • Function as Emergency Coordinator for 24-hour incident response.
  • Perform/Conduct site safety inspections and coordinate Safety Committee programs.
  • Conduct incident Investigations and manage them in Enablon as required and provide recommendations. Oversee corrective action implementation to ensure effectiveness.
  • Provide EHS&S regulatory and compliance guidance to staff, where required.
  • Perform/Participate in risk analyses/management and assist staff with Hazardous Material Shipping requirements and coordinate required training.
  • Collaborate with clients and external regulatory agencies to explain procedures and produce written documentation as proof of compliance.
  • Attend EHS&S-related training to maintain and grow competency in EHS&S areas.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Jobs Requirement

  • A bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, biological science, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in Environmental Health & Safety.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Certification/Licensure: ASP, CSP, CSE or other equivalent/applicable certification is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret federal, state and or local regulations and apply them to address compliance solutions as required.
  • Effective writing, communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Computer skills including MS Office and database management.
  • Ability to work with others on teams, interact with employees in constructive ways to enhance safety and compliance.
