** Role Summary

The Workshop Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day management of the workshop operations. Ensuring that tasks are delegated according to priority and maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.


** HSEQ Responsibilities

• Lead by example and drive ‘Working Safely’ ethos across your team.

• Proactively participate in the development and implementation of initiatives to improve health and safety performance across your work group.

• Provide visible leadership in driving positive health and safety behaviours consistent with MACA HSEQ policies, procedures and standards.

• Take full accountability for the effective management and prompt return to work for injured workers.

• Demonstrate and encourage a continuous improvement culture, ensuring department systems and process are quality controlled to a high standard.


** Role Specific Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of all plant and equipment.

• Managing the workshop personnel, plant resources maintenance schedules and programs.

• Ensuring all plant and equipment is compliant with industry and regulatory standards, rules, regulations, and statutory requirements (e.g., licensing for lifting equipment registration of pressure vessels).

• Overseeing all maintenance operations, safe operating standards, setup, tooling, efficiency and professionalism of workshop and storage area.

• Management of all supply accounts for parts, repairs, consumables, GET, fuel, tyres etc. necessary to support the plant assets and contract/project plant resources operations.

• Actively participate and contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of MACA work practices.

• Commitment, respect and compliance to the MACA safety, health, and environment policies, ‘zero harm’ objective, MACA’s health and safety initiatives, fitness for work policy and MACA’s vision and core values.


** Scheduling and Finance Responsibilities

• Plans coordinates all plant and equipment maintenance and repair programs.

• Implements and enforces attributes of all the plant and equipment management plans. Enforces correct SWMS, lock out procedures and trains subordinate personnel where necessary in safe operations.

• Enforces Company behaviour and safe operation standards consistently.

• Positive and proactive behaviours are demonstrated by himself and workforce.

• Maintains a professional and positive relationship with contract managers, suppliers, and client’s representatives.

• Demonstrable leadership in delivering safe quality outcomes on all activities and tasks.

• Ensuring the assets of the organisation are adequately safeguarded and maintained.

• Ensures the image of all personnel and equipment is of a high presentable standard.

• Promotes and encourages innovation and simple improvements in efficiency and safe operating methods.

• Deliver on personal objectives within a set of agreed KPI’s and report on team performance targets consistent with the overall departmental plan.

• Adhere to approved delegation of authority for this position.

• Prepare and submit accurate reports in a timely manner as requested.


** People Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and drive the MACA agreed behaviours at all times.

• Encourage and demonstrate the need for continuous professional development and the value it provides to the organisation.

• Build collaborative relationships with MACA’s senior management group, front-line staff and teams.

• Review the processes direct reports work within to ensure quality outputs are achieved.

• Define and communicate task and performance expectations for direct reports, monitor performance against these standards, and take action where appropriate (including adjusting remuneration, performance counselling, initiating removal from role, and restating performance requirements, etc.) in a timely manner and in accordance with Company procedures.

• Implement role orientation for new direct reports.

• Take ownership in progressing your own growth and professional development.

** Experience / Qualifications

• Mining/civil / road maintenance industry background.

• Professional mechanical maintenance and repair qualifications.

• Ability to plan and schedule activities and resources.

• Basic computer literacy.

• Leadership skills.

• Experience leading high performing teams.

• Proven ability to drive sound commercial outcomes.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.

• Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills with people at all levels.

• Proven ability to demonstrate strong business acumen.

• Excellent organisation and planning skills.

• Strong coaching, mentoring and change management skills.

• Intermediate skills using the Microsoft Office suite.


* Desirable

• Supervisory experience.

• Experience gained in the mining or related contracting industry.

• Knowledge of plant and equipment form the civil and road maintenance contracting industry.
