Job Description

• Collaborate with the Operations Team and the Office of the Head of School to update standard operating procedures for maintenance work

• Develop planned, preventative and responsive maintenance plans and produce related reports

• In consultation with the Deputy Head of Operations, produce annual budgets and monitor budget balances for the Maintenance Team

• Maintain the inventory of maintenance supplies, produce monthly maintenance supply orders, and engage with suppliers

• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities

• Produce regular maintenance and risk assessment reports for review by the Deputy Head of Operations and the Head of School

• Prioritize maintenance requests received from staff and leaders via the online Maintenance and Moving Request Form; collaboratively develop daily maintenance schedules with the Maintenance Supervisor to service requests

• Line manage the Maintenance Supervisor by providing positive management support and offering technical expertise as needed

• Collaborate in the hiring process for new maintenance staff, advise on team staffing needs, and support the staff performance review process

• Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor in providing direct, on-the-job training for maintenance technicians

• Lead regular Maintenance Team meetings

• Oversee the work done by external contractors and consultants; provide regular updates to the Deputy Head of Operations

• Manage special maintenance projects and specialized systems, including the solar energy system, air conditioning system, fire safety and smoke alarm system, irrigation pumps, etc.

• Undertake other appropriate duties assigned by the Deputy Head of Operations or the Head of School

• Fulfill role in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all students in the school by:

o attending regular professional development child protection and safeguarding programs and signing a Code of Conduct

o reporting to the Designated or Deputy Safeguarding Lead any concerns they have for the welfare of a student

Job Requirements

o Bachelor’s degree, ideally in engineering or construction management

o At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance management, property management or a engineering role (electrical or mechanical)

o Experience overseeing a team

o Experience engaging with external contractors and suppliers

o Experience implementing and monitoring numerous maintenance plans in concert

o Experience working in an international organization

o Knowledge, Competencies and Attributes

o Proficient in written and spoken English and Khmer

o Knowledge of structural, electrical and mechanical systems; knowledge of solar energy systems, air conditioning systems and/or irrigation systems an advantage

o Able to identify identify, diagnose the cause and trouble-shoot maintenance issues

o Able to provide technical advice to team members in a clear, constructive, positive manner

o Knowledge of risk assessment frameworks and health and safety standards (e.g. ISO)

o Proficient in Google Workspace, internet use and email

o Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills

o Able to develop report templates and to analyze internal systems and processes to streamline internal customer service

o Brings a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn

o Able to handle difficult situations and make well-reasoned decisions

o Able to plan and prioritize workload
