Jobs Description

- Overall responsibility for recording sound on BBC Media Action productions of ‘as live’ multi panel discussion programmes, documentaries on field, dramas and magazine programmes ensuring audio quality is first-rate and complies with BBC standards. - Responsibility for the audio/video equipment necessary for any recording situation. - To ensure the necessary equipment is delivered as required and to supervise the rigging for a variety of productions. - Manage the sound studio and equipment in the studio, establishing the necessary systems in consultation with the Administration Team. Specifically, take responsibility for ensuring BBC all technical equipment is in good working order and report problems to the office manager at the first available opportunity. - To undertake conventional circuitry wiring, including working on equipment which may be carrying live program. - To interpret engineering drawings and circuit diagrams. - To design and assemble equipment involving mechanical and electrical skills. - To install equipment in racks, trolleys, offices and studios. - To use a range of hand and power tools to cut, bend, drill and shape a range of materials to achieve the required shape and tolerances. - To diagnose faults and wiring errors on audio. - To maintain knowledge of technical developments in audio/visual related areas. - Ensure that all the circumstances and venues in which people under his/her control are expected to contribute to the production process meet all necessary health and safety requirements. - To offer technical assistance and advice in programme production as well as generate ideas and to actively contribute to the editorial planning process to improve the quality and richness of sound recording. - Assist in maintaining and providing comprehensive details of programme content necessary for the compilation of reports to show progress against project objectives, Programmes as Broadcast document, music usage, compliance and other administrative records - Perform other related duties as assigned by the Series Producer, Senior Producer and Country Director.

Jobs Requirement

- Experienced sound technician/s ensuring the quality of their work is to the highest standards and that the needs of the organisation are planned and met with the most appropriate person. - Experience working as a Sound Technician in television and/or radio or stage. - A strong background in technical knowledge of sound recording system and electric wiring. - Considerable experience in producing television programmes, documentaries and discussion. - Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. - Report writing skills for incidents. - A good understanding of the processes of television and or radio production.
